2012 Subaru Legacy

Key Features of the Subaru Legacy

Engineering.
Take your adventure further. Road-gripping Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive continuously provides power to all four wheels, keeping your tires engaged at all times. You'll have the traction and confidence to go on and off the beaten path. Not to mention, you are able to get All-Wheel Drive without sacrificing fuel efficiency. This means more mountains per gallon.

The Subaru Boxer engine has a low center of gravity for exceptional handling and control. You'll feel the difference through every curve and anything else nature throws in your path.

Continuously Variable Transmission, available on Legacy 2.5i models, saves on fuel by adjusting to optimize engine speed, adding up to an estimated 31 MPG highway.

The Drive.
From the 2.5-liter 170-hp engine with fuel-efficient available Continuously Variable Transmission to the 265-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter engine with 6-speed manual transmission to the 256-hp 3.6-liter engine with 5-speed automatic transmission, the question is what to do with all this performance.

With power continuously routed to all four wheels, the Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system provides a sure feel of the road, giving you confidence and control in every weather and terrain.

Legacy features four-wheel independent suspension with a double wishbone rear design for sure handling and a comfortable ride. With quick ratio variable power-assisted steering, you'll love every curve thrown at you.

Wet roads. Snowy. Icy. Whatever. The Subaru Boxer engine with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) work together to give you balance and traction. So control is always in your forecast.

Comfort.
The Legacy gives ample hip room in the front, legroom in the back and headroom all around. Fine-tune the fit with the available 10-way adjustable power driver's seat and 4-way adjustable power passenger seat, each with adjustable lumbar support.

The rear seatback folds flat, opening into the trunk for extended storage space. And the seatback is split 60/40, so you can carry large items and a passenger comfortably.

The Legacy has available dual-zone automatic climate control that lets the driver and passenger set their own ideal temperatures. And with CFC-free air conditioning and cabin air filtration ,everyone can ride in comfort and breathe easy.

The optional All-Weather Package includes heated seats, headed side mirrors and a windshield wiper de-icer, so driving in the snow or sleet will feel like another day at the beach.

Thoughtfully placed storage areas include eight cup holders, a center storage bin and compartments on each door panel. You can even store sunglasses in the overhead console with dual map lights, for a clutter-free and refreshing ride.

Keep your eyes on the road, hands on the wheel and comfort still under control. The available leather-wrapped steering wheel has buttons audio system and cruise control. Options also include a Bluetooth hands-free phone on/off switch and navigation system voice command.

Safety.
Our ring-shaped reinforcement frame is designed to shield and protest in a collision. Made of high-tensile steel, it can maintain its structural integrity and keep the cabin intact, diverting that dangerous impact energy away from all your precious cargo.

The Subaru Legacy includes a frontal airbag system and front-side airbags to protect the driver and front passenger. It also features a rollover sensor to ensure that front and rear side-curtain airbags are deployed if a rollover occurs.

In a front-end collision, the traditional engine block can be sent backward and enter the cabin area. The unique Subaru Boxer engine is mounted low in the body frame. Its low profile tends to move away from the passenger area of the vehicle, making it less likely to harm the driver and occupants.

Accident Avoidance.
Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive continuously provides power to all four wheels, so your tires are always fully engaged with the road. Therefore, if you encounter any of nature's hazards, you're more likely to have the traction to get out of the way.

The Anitlock Braking System (ABS) monitors your wheels for lock-up and helps maintain directional stability. The Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) helps you maintain traction with the road.Brake Assist can sense a panic-stop situation and apply full braking force immediately to help you brake faster.

From asphalt to gravel, the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system on every Legacy can help you keep your vehicle in control. It automatically monitors the vehicle's braking, steering and trajectory, so you'll have greater confidence when the terrain becomes difficult to navigate.

The available rear-vision camera provides a clear view of what's behind you. It'll come in especially handing when you're backing out of a tight spot in the city or the forest.

Subaru's Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) alerts the driver when tire pressure is below optimal. Properly inflated tires are critical to proper steering, braking and fuel economy.

Reliability.
The unique Subaru Boxer engine produces power with less vibration than other designs and that can help increase its reliability--one reason why 95% of the vehicles we've built in the last 10 years are still on the road today.

Each Subaru Legacy comes with a 3-year/36,000-miles warranty that includes repairing worn brake pads, wiper blades, clutch linings and transmitter batteries. And the power train is covered for five years or 60,000 miles. Plus, 24-hour Subaru Roadside Assistance to help with flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts and other road trip mishaps.

Subaru Added Security extended service agreements and maintenance plans can cover your vehicle for up to seven years or 100,000 miles.

Electronics and Audio.
A 440-watt 9-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with MP3 playback capability, a 6-disc in-dash CD changer and XM Satellite Radio are all available to help make your Legacy even more of a blast.

Bluetooth hands-free connectivity is available as part of the premium audio and navigation systems.

The Subaru Media Hub accessory lets you plug a USB mass storage device in to the stereo and navigate its tracks with the stereo's controls.

The voice-navigation system is an 8-inch multi-function voice-activated touch screen that shows a rear-vision camera. You can also enjoy a DVD on the screen when your Legacy is parked.

Every Subaru Legacy can play SIRIUS or XM Satellite Radio, offering up to 170 channels of music, sports, news, weather, talk and comedy in high-quality digital sound.
